Eduard used a Zvezda kit as the basis.
I’d never worked with models from this
brand before, so I was curious to see what
the quality would be like. I must say I was
very pleasantly surprised. The model came
together without any problems, and the
same goes for the Eduard accessories.
Everything fitted perfectly the first time.
The beautifully crafted, 3D-printed cockpit
added a whole new dimension to the model,
and the cargo hold looked great once the
photo-etched parts had been added. The
entire build process was absolutely smooth.
Then came the star of the kit: the decals.
Initially, I considered not using rivets at
all, as I was concerned that they would
be obscured by another layer of decals. In
the end, though, I decided to stick them on.
Then it was time for the Alien design itself.
I admit I was a bit daunted at first. I thought
about how to start to ensure there were no
unwanted gaps and that the individual parts
lined up correctly.
But the biggest surprise of the whole build
came here. I really enjoyed applying the
decals. Everything fitted together perfectly,
and I made more progress than I’d expected.
At one point, I just said to myself, “ ‚Brilliant!‘
Photo-etched parts for the Mi-24P cargo
interior in 1/48 scale (catalog no. 481067)
were used in the construction of this model.
