container, a crate reinforced with metal
elements and finished with a green
protective coating, was used to transport
FAB-250M-46 bombs for combat
deployment. The following details are
stenciled in black on the end of the two-
part container: from top to bottom, the
manufacturer code, bomb type, compatible
fuses, batch number and year of
manufacture, total weight of the container
and bomb, and information indicating that
the bomb was fitted with detonators at
the factory.

TECHNICS / EQUIPMENT
At the time of the weapon’s entry into service,
the fuses used operated on thermo-pneumatic
and mechanical principles, and later they were
electrical or time delayed.
Another widely used bomb was the OFAB-100M
100 kg fragmentation bomb.
