Ukraine had placed high hopes in the F-16s, although many experts warned early on against overly optimistic expectations. And indeed,
their deployment has not brought any dramatic turning point. They arrived slowly, in small numbers, giving Russia enough time to prepare.
The pilot training is long and complicated by language barrier.
Having said that, not all is negative – the F-16s have certainly been helpful. While they didn’t revolutionize the war, they have been crucial
in defending Ukrainian cities from daily Russian attacks. They’ve also started to conduct the air-to-ground attacks with guided weapons,
an important role.

The People’s Liberation Army Navy was founded in 1949 and, for many years,
focused primarily on coastal defense and related operations. As strategic missile
forces and other military branches were prioritized, the navy was relegated to
a secondary role, largely tasked with coastal operations, including defending
against potential Taiwanese landings on the mainland. Starting in the 1970s,
however, the navy began receiving more attention, which led to increased
production and operational capabilities. This shift helped elevate the People’s
Republic of China (PRC) to the status of a regional maritime power. The growing
rift with the Soviet Union also played a role, as the PRC quickly lost access
to many Soviet industries, especially in shipbuilding.
