153.11, Oberleutnant Frank Linke-Crawford, Flik 41J, Aiello del Friuli, Italy, November 1917
Born in Cracow (now Poland) on August 18th, 1893, he started his military career in the Austro-Hungarian armed forces in 1910, entering the Air Force in March
1916 with Flik 22. Linke-Crawford became a fighter pilot in August 1917, joining Flik 41J under command of Hauptmann Godwin Brumowski. He scored 14 times
during his service with Flik 41J, and five times whilst flying this Albatros D.III (Oef) 153.11. In December 1917, Linke-Crawford was appointed commander of Flik
60J, flying Aviatik-Berg D.I fighters. He then acquired his next six victories. He died on July 31st, 1918, after combat with two Hanriot HD.1 of the Italian 81st
fighter squadron, flown by Corporal Aldo Astolfi and Sergeant Ciampitti. During World War I, Linke-Crawford claimed 27 confirmed aerial victories.
