  Friends,

  The fact that it’s the New Year will likely

  lead you to guess at what today’s newsle

  -

  er will be about. So, let me get right

  down to it with new tooled kits. In De

  -

  cember, we introduced our Tempest Mk.V

  in 1:48th scale in the rst producon series

  version. This will be followed in February by

  the most famous of versions of this ghter,

  the 2nd producon series, forever burned

  into the memory of modelers thanks to Pie

  -

  rre Clostermman and his Big Show. Today, we

  know that some of the stories are to some

  extent tall tales, but, nevertheless, the book

  has led many of us to modeling. Our model

  will, of course, depict the aircra as well,

  and in two versions. The remainder of the

  marking opons will cover warme as well

  as post war use of the Tempest Mk.V, so lo

  -

  vers of natural metal airframes will nd so-

  mething of interest. The 2nd Series kit will

  include some components that weren’t

  in the 1st Series kit, such as a spinner with

  diagonal blade openings for the manually

  set prop pitch, two types of dust lters and

  a small sprue with drop tanks. The Tempest

  will make one more return this year, in June,

  as a Royal Class boxing, with the main bonus

  of that package being a publicaon by Chris

  Thomas. This will also carry an opon for

  Clostermman, so if you can wait ll June, that

  might be your choice to consider.

  The Royal Class edion of the Tempest Mk.V

  will be preceded in May by a new 1:72nd sca

  -

  le Fokker D.VII. In principle, this will be a sca-

  led down version of the 48th scale kit, but it

  will be modied to the point where the older

  and larger version will be mostly unidena

  -

  ble. As with our recent releases, we put qui-

  te a bit of eort into simplifying construcon

  of this kit, and I think that fans of this scale

  will be sased along those lines as well. Nei

  -

  ther I, nor any of my Eduard colleagues , have

  had the opportunity to assemble the kit, as

  we have no fuselages yet molded, but what

  has been produced, especially in terms of the

  small detail bits, I must say that I am lled

  with quiet ancipaon. Once you get this

  new kit into your hands, I think that my quiet

  ancipaon will become jused, because

  through its elegance and modeler friendly

  design, it will be reminiscent of the good ‘ol

  kits of First World War aircra such as the

  Albatros D.V., Fokker Dr.I and the Nieuport

  17. The laer is a bit of a forgoen item, but

  I consider it one of our best eorts and a role

  model for what an ideal 72nd scale kit should

  look like. The enre line of Fokker D.VIIs will

  feature revised lozenge paerns which will

  reect the most recent research surrounding

  this mysterious item. I must admit to a certain

  amount of skepcism in this maer, because

  we have had so many veriably accurate Lo

  -

  zenge paerns that it’s virtually impossible to

  get my bearings straight with respect to the

  correct colours of these things and it’s clear

  that further veriably correct research is pen

  -

  ding and in the end we will be no further than

  square one. I am not trying to put the brakes

  on research. Certainly not. Please….resear

  -

  ches, connue to research! The line of D.VIIs

  will open with the Fokker D.VII OAW, which

  I consider to be the most striking of all these

  aircra. As with the 48th scale version of the

  model, most of these 72nd scale kits, except

  for the Austro-Hungarian MAG, will have two

  versions of the fuselage and in the case of the

  OAW, these will be the two last producon

  versions. There is a third version of the OAW

  being planned as well, allowing the opon of

  building Ernst Udet’s famous red/white air

  -

  cra. As noted and to the contrary, the MAG

  version will oer just the one fuselage type,

  as there was just the one, but this kit will

  oer the relevant dierences in the radiator

  and prop, including the popular four bladed

  type. The MAG will come out in October, it

  will be available at E-day, and it will also be

  released as a Limited Edion kit similar to the

  48th scale item. And so that there will be no

  shortage of Fokkers, we will release a Quatro

  Combo Royal Class package, likely in the rst

  couple of months of 2019. Through 2020, we

  will release other versions of the Fokker D.VII

  from other manufacturing plants, such as Al

  -

  batros (aka Fokker D.VII (Alb)) and including

  Fokker’s own, (aka Fokker D.VII (Fok)).

  Over the course of the year, there will

  be new releases of older subjects. The rst

  half of the year will see the coming of the

  Fw 190A-8 and Bf 109G-10 Diana/WNF in

  the ProPACK range and the Bf 109G-6/AS

  and G-10 Erla (Serial Number 15xxxx) over

  the laer half of the year. We have comple

  -

  ted the fuselage for aircra with serial num-

  bers 48xxxx from Erla, but we sll have not

  decided weather to release both Erla G-10s

  as separate enes or together but, at the

  moment, it looks as though the ProPACK

  kits will include both fuselages, one for each

  producon block, and the later Weekend kits

  will be separated. The Erla G-10 was a rela

  -

  vely passionate frequent request last year, so

  I hope that a lot of you will be rather pleased

  by this dbit. This will not signal the end

  of the 1:48th scale Bf 109 line for our rm.

  Within the realm of design tasks, we have

  completed the G-14/AS covering producon

  block 46xxxx from Erla, and at the moment,

  we are working on the Bf 109G-12 in three

  producon versions, based on rebuilds of the

  G-4, G-6 and G-10. We are also working on

  the Bf 109K-4 in parallel, which in this subject

  maer is the most involved and labor inten

  -

  sive project. The enre family of these kits

  will culminate at the end of winter with the

  design of the S-199 and CS-199. These won’t

  go into producon, though, unl next year

  and the following one, with the last three

  seeing their own unique development of all

  components, including detail parts.

  The rst of the Bf 109G-6/G-14 with the

  DB 605AS engine, the Bf 109G-14/AS, is

  a part of January’s ‘Bodenplae’ release

  which includes marking opons for aircra

  of the 78xxxx producon block produced by

  Messerschmi at Regensburg. It is true that

  externally, this producon block is virtually

  idencal to the G-10 13xxxx producon block

  from the same producon facility, meaning

  that our components will also be idencal to

  the previously released Bf 109G-10 M. Re

  -

  gensburg (producon block 13xxxx) kit. The

  basic dierence comes down to one pued

  cover and another modied. Other possible

  dierences, such as a smaller supercharger

  intake, and the locaon of the above no

  -

  ted oil tank ller cap panel on the nose, re-

  main unconrmed in available photographs.

  As a result, given the me period of service

  of both types, we are considering the later

  look of the aircra to be the same as that

  of the G-10.

  This approach, however, is the excepon

  and not the rule. For both of the remaining

  AS kits, we have designed new fuselages, and

  this will go far in making the kits as accurate

  as possible. These will not be half-assed mo

  -

  dicaons that one might even expect from

  something like the Bf 109-G6/AS. I am hope

  -

  ful that this will be a very successful family

  of kits, and our eort to achieve a high level

  of precision of these admiedly peripheral

  versions will be appreciated. This, even despi

  -

  te the feeling I have that the detail aributes

  of individual versions and sub-variants are

  not generally well understood by modelers.

  That’s not a cricism, and I fully understand.

  Not long ago, I was in the same boat, and

  I had to make an eort at compleng my

  educaon on this maer. We are trying to aid

  you in doing the same for yourself through

  our Facebook page, as well as on our newly

  prepared Eduard Online informaon page,

  where you’ll nd a table illustrang the dif

  -

  ferences within these versions that idenfy

  each one. The queson remains regarding

  the actual aracveness of the individual

  variants , and I have to admit to having hit

  a bit of a wall in the form of a lack of at-

  tracve marking opons for the G-10 WNF/

  Diana, slated for a March release. I have con

  -

  cerns that this will be even more apparent

  with the G-12, and we have to decide how

  to approach this issue. The other side of that

  coin is that, at the very least, the G-6/AS is

  developing into something with no shortage

  of excellent marking opons that can very

  much help to prop up the summer months.

  The K-4 version has similar possibilies as

  long as current research eorts don’t drag

  this into an unevenul grey realm. There are

  some indicaons that this may be so. But, the

  queson is, how much will this aect us.

  Now that we’ve touched on January’s re

  -

  leases, this would be a good me to nish

  them o. In the Weekend line, we are re

  -

  turning to the Spiire Mk.IXc Late Version

  in 1:48th, an item that has been sold out

  now for some me, and thanks to the types

  impact on the history of world aviaon, has

  been sorely missed. The ProPACK kit is

  also in 1:48th and its relevance to the Spit

  -

  re phenomenon is not lost either. The F6F-

  3 Hellcat has been missing from our catalog

  for far too long. Although the original boxart

  for this kit was prey amazing, we decided

  in favor of a complete revamping of the mar

  -

  king opons, and, as commented on by one

  rather boisterous reviewer, it is surprising at

  just how striking the result of this decision is.

  Some thanks has to go out to Mr. Sredl for his

  very interesng recommendaons which we

  were pleased to incorporate into our decisi

  -

  on making process. There will a further two

  Hellcats coming out through the rst half of

  the year, one in February in the form of the

  F6F-5 as a 1:72nd scale Weekend Edion kit

  and in July in the form of the F6F-3 ProPACK

  kit, also in 72nd. You may expect a very simi

  -

  lar collecon of marking opons as with the

  just released 48th scale kit. While on the to

  -

  pic of re-releases, producon will resume of

  the 1:48th scale Mirage IIIC and CJ, the rst in

  February and the second in May. Also going

  back into producon by popular demand will

  be the 48th scale SPAD XIII Early Version with

  the rounded wingps. The nal re-release of

  the year will come in its second half, and will

  be the Airacobra, but, as yet, of an undeter

  -

  mined version. And that lists all of our up-

  coming ProPACK releases, both as straight

  re-releases or as older kits with new marking

  opons. The nal one will be the Spiire

  HF.Mk.VIII in 1:72nd scale, which, through its

  marking opons , will more or less be a copy

  of last year’s 48th scale release of the same

  type.

  There will be some signicant new re

  -

  leases that will see their premieres this year.

  In 1:72nd scale, these would include MiG-21s

  in their PF and PFM versions. These are being

  planned as ProPACK kits through the second

  half of the year. These kits, in comparison to

  their MF predecessors, will feature some

  relavely signicant design adjustments.

  These kits will share some of the detail and

  weapons sprues with their earlier cousins,

  but will not be clones of the earlier releases,

  having version specic details of their own.

  I hope that thus far, the informaon has

  been interesng, but I am sure that we can

  agree on the fact that the most signicant

  news will come with a discussion regarding

  the 48th scale Mustang. This project is pro

  -

  gressing quickly forwards and I expect the

  rst test shots to be available in the spring.

  This project holds one interesng secret, and

  that is that the development of this kit makes

  use of every technological innovaon we

  have been able to integrate into what we do.

  This is sure to have a very posive impact on

  the model and I am very hopeful that it will

  become one of our favorite pieces. True, ex

  -

  perience suggests that the rst wave of such

  a release is met with some trepidaon, and

  I expect that much of this will focus on the

  surface texture of the wings. This is a point

  of discussion even today, and among the fa-

  vorite topics of discussion related to the Mus-

  tang concerns riveng. Our response to this is

  that the kit will have no rivets on the pued

  surfaces of the wings, while the remainder

  of the airframe will be riveted. The panel lines,

  however, will be represented, because repre

  -

  senng them would be consistent with pho-

  tographic evidence. And if anyone has other

  ideas, they are always free to puy up the

  panel lines as well. Other items of discussion

  might be the canopy, propeller, weapons and

  other alternave parts . There will be three

  canopies included in the kit. The same goes

  for the propeller, and radio equipment vari

  -

  aons. An interesng item is the dust cover

  within the tailwheel well. These were alwa

  -

  ys a lile dierent from aircra to aircra

  and I am leaning towards leaving these out

  completely, and adding these at the modeler

  level should pose no issues for anyone. The

  kit includes items for the Mustang Mk.IV, and

  we also have ready the recce version which

  has its own fuselage. These sub-variants will

  be released through the course of next year

  outside of being included in a Royal Class pac

  -

  kage. Weapons will be concentrated on one

  theme related sprue that will include drop

  tanks, bombs, rockets and bazooka tubes,

  among other payload hardware. The marking

  opons selecon process is sll ongoing but

  will be consistent with our past paerns, me

  -

  aning that there will be a nice mix of famous

  and not so famous aircra. Naturally we will

  release a slew of aermarket accessories for

  it, in brass and especially within the Brassin

  line, including things such as the engine and

  its installaon. Sets will cover details such

  as wheels with detail dierences, exhausts,

  bronze landing gear struts, the aforemeno

  -

  ned engine, the cockpit, and the collecons

  of these in the BigSin line.

  The Mustang is an item promong a wide

  range of themes. Aer the inaugural Pro

  -

  PACK releases, there will be Limited Edion

  releases that will be theme related, such as

  we have done with the iconic Bf 109. We’ll

  start o with the Mighty Eight, and that will

  be something! And with that, we get on the

  topic of Limited Edion releases.

  As we speak, this year’s rst Limited Edi

  -

  on kit is being made available, called ‘Boden-

  plae’. You can get a comprehensive glimpse

  into its contents elsewhere is this issue of our

  Newsleer, and we’ve already touched on

  the Bf 109G-14/AS that is included within it.

  Other contents include the classic Bf 109G-

  14 and the Fw 190D-9. Bodenplae is an in

  -

  teresng theme and it can’t be ruled out that

  other incarnaons of it will surface in the fo

  -

  llowing years. On the topic of Limited Edion

  kits that are put together from our own re

  -

  sources, March will see the 1:72nd scale item

  dubbed ‘MF’, dedicated to the MiG-21MF

  in its dierent sub variant service in the Cze-

  choslovak, Czech and Slovak air forces . Sin-

  ce this is an extension of the successful 48th

  scale release, the publicaon in its second

  edion that was integral to the earlier release

  is included here as well. It also parallels the

  quarter scale decal opons. The author of

  the book is Marn Janousek. In May, we will

  nd further uses for the Bf 109 kit, specica

  -

  lly the Bf 109F-2 and Bf 109F-4 dedicated to

  Operaon Barbarossa, the German invasion

  of the Soviet Union in June, 1941. The kit will

  centre around units that were involved in this

  German endeavor. For the laer half of the

  year, we are preparing a 1:32nd scale Limited

  Edion release called ‘Legion Condor’, ba

  -

  sed on our Bf 109E-1/E-3, and ground aack

  Fw 190As under the heading JaBo.

  We also have some Limited Edion items

  coming out using some very popular kits

  from other manufacturers. This year will

  start out in a somewhat non-tradional ma

  -

  nner with a 1:48th scale Revell Tornado kit in

  April. About mid-year, we’ll follow up with

  one using the Hasegawa F/A-18C Hornet, also

  in 1:48th scale, a Hasegawa F-104J in the su-

  mmer, and will cap the year o at E-day with

  a Trumpeter MiG-23BN. I will point out that

  this will not contain any correcve parts, and

  will be oered as molded by Trumpeter. Its

  bonus will be a publicaon from Mr. Janou

  -

  sek, an expert on the subject. Royal Class kits

  fall under Limited Edion items and about

  those we have already made some menon.

  These will progressively include the Tempest

  Mk.V, the Mustang and the Fokker D.VII. I ca

  -

  n’t rule out that either the Mustang or the

  Fokker will eventually be pushed to the be

  -

  ginning of next year. These things are a bit

  of ways o and it’s tough to tell what will

  happen between now and then. It should

  be assumed that we take advantage of that

  legal babble stu about ‘subject to change

  without noce’ when we must, except with

  nofy when it becomes possible.

  The Limited Edion line also includes the

  ‘membership acvaon’ kits for the BFC.

  We’ve been working for some me now on

  an acvaon kit in 1:32nd scale and this year

  we’d like to add one in both 72nd and 48th.

  We also have a 1:35th scale Sherman in re

  -

  serve and I promise to do everything we can

  to get these kits available over the course

  of this year.

  Also falling under the Limited Edion ca

  -

  tegory is the SUPER44 line in 1:144th scale.

  This will bring some interesng items and we

  have come to the decision to rethink this line

  and to modify the concept. We will sell o re

  -

  maining kits through a sale dubbed Sweep,

  aer which they will again become available

  with a change in packaging. We will aban

  -

  don the Dual Combo idea of these kits and

  release them in a simpler format with one

  kit per box. Furthermore, these items will be

  bagged; a bit of a throwback to the classic

  days of modeling. In order to not just moder

  -

  nize the line but also to infuse it with some

  new blood, we are going to purchase several

  kits in Japan, including the A-4E/F Skyhawk,

  F-104G Starghter, P-47D Thunderbolt, F6F

  Hellcat, Fw 190D, and F-8E Crusader. The

  plan is to release these progressively from

  the end of the rst half of the year.

  And that leaves us with the Weekend kits.

  These are made up of past ProPACK and Li

  -

  mited Edion kits. At this moment, the Spit-

  re Mk.IXC Late Version in 48th is coming to

  market, and this will be followed in February

  by the previously menoned 1:72nd scale

  F6F-5 Hellcat. This will be followed by a oat

  version of the Hanriot HD.2, the Bf 109E-4,

  Fw 190A-3, Spiire HF.Mk.VIII, Bf 108, Alba

  -

  tros D.V, Fw 190A-5 and the Bf 109G-14, all in

  1:48th scale. There will be two 1:72nd scale

  Weekends, the MiG-21MF Fighter Bomber

  , aka ‘Grey’, and a MiG-21MFN. The laer

  will be available in me for E-day, to give the

  event in Lyse some umf.

  Not liming ourselves to just a discussion

  around kits, allow me a few words regarding

  accessories. There is no sense in going over

  these item by item. Just a lisng alone would

  take up half the newsleer, but we can cer

  -

  tainly touch on them a tad. These will be con-

  sistent with our established style covering

  our own kit releases as well as those of other

  manufacturers. We will connue to focus on

  designing our accessories to t quality kits

  on the market and this has been explained

  in the past. We are going into another round

  of upgrades following last year’s successful

  investments into improving our capabilies.

  This year, we want to put into use a laser

  ploer for the manufacture of masks that will

  bring a sharper and more accurate cut with

  less items slipping through QC and into stock,

  with a more visible outline on the backing

  sheet making for a more user friendly item.

  There will also be an upgrade to the electro

  -

  nic component of the photoetching process

  which, although not specically improving

  the quality of the product directly, will im

  -

  prove the delity of the lm used to produce

  photoetched brass and that eect should be

  noceable in the end product. In the Brassin

  line, we are looking at improving the prinng

  on resin bits to allow us to expand the line

  into more complicated instrument panels

  as well as items like side consoles and ul

  -

  mately other items as well. It’s all on a bit of

  a long road, and it is not completely clear

  when things will be made available to the end

  user, but hopefully things are streamlining

  well. In any case, the Brassins will change in

  their packaging, where the rather clumsy

  blister packs will go by the wayside and will

  be replaced by boxes and bags. The most sig

  -

  nicant upgrade comes with the producon

  of decals. Right now, we are in the process

  of picking out a new producon system that

  will replace the current silkscreen method in

  use. Our goal is to print decals with the sharp

  edges and register that is achieved by Carto

  -

  graf with the thickness, characteriscs and

  price of Eduard decals. For now, it looks as

  though this is on a good road to someplace

  nice and test prints are looking prey sweet.

  We’ll have some samples available for in

  -

  specon at Nuremburg as well as at Prosek.

  If all goes well, the new equipment will be

  brought online in the second half of the year.

  So that we are not too bored, we will be mo

  -

  ving our warehouse in the summer. What we

  have now just is not big enough and it’s be

  -

  ginning to get in the way of expanding and

  by extension, eciency. We’ve reached the

  limit of its potenal. Our goal is to move it to

  someplace more useful and to modernize its

  operaon. It promises to improve the speed

  with which orders are processed. Generally,

  we reached the potenal of the warehouse

  back in 2016 and hit a point of stagnaon

  in 2017, maybe even with a bit of a decrease

  in capability, but rebounded by some 5% last

  year, but it’s clear that things are in need

  of a signicant change. It’s also clear that

  when we do revamp our warehouse and its

  operaons, we need to go into it full lt and

  head rst, even at the cost of dropping out

  of order processing for a few days. I am not

  yet sure exactly when this will be, but I will

  inform you in me. This will also be related

  to one other change that we are preparing to

  make, and that is to iniate a new informa

  -

  on page called EDUARD ONLINE. This will

  essenally mirror our Facebook page. This

  is designed to cater to modelers who don’t

  have Facebook and don’t want it and are not

  tech savvy and are so cut o from our endea

  -

  vors and informaon about them. This new

  page should solve this issue to at least some

  extent and will, of course, be linked from our

  main page www.eduard.com. We would like

  to see a working prototype through the rst

  half of the year.

  We are geng close to the end of this issu

  -

  e’s introducon. I won’t keep you much lon-

  ger from what you’re really looking forward

  to. Just a quick touch upon this year’s shows

  and events. At the end of January, we’ll be

  in Nuremburg. We’ve got a bigger stall this

  year, somewhere on the corner of an isle in

  Hall 7, and the stall number is C57. It will car

  -

  ry a disncve American theme and I hazard

  a guess that you’ll understand why. Our now

  tradional press conference is slated for Fri

  -

  day, February 1st, at 1400h in the Stockholm

  hall on the second oor of the press confe

  -

  rence centre NCC Ost. The language of choice

  will be English, but do not worry about that,

  our English is understandable to even those

  with English as their nave tongue. We also

  be taking part in model shows, as usual. We

  will begin with Prosek, where you’ll be able

  to inspect the Fokker D.VII OAW and a bit

  of the Mustang, as well as a sample of the

  new decal producon eort. This will be fo

  -

  llowed by Mosonmagyarovar in Hungary and

  if there should be a show in Koprivnice, we

  are considering aending that as well. Next

  in line will be ModelBrno which again, this

  year will be under our direcon with the

  assistance of KPM Brno. In August, we’ll be

  at Chatanooga where we also want to have

  our Mustang and we are doing everything

  we can to ensure that we have something

  of this item to show o. Aer our return from

  America, we will be o to Plzen, and this will

  bring us close to E-day, again held at Lyse nad

  Labem, again to Saint Winceslaus, and again

  with the Mustang and this me with three

  kits dedicated to the Czechoslovak Air Force.

  In November, you can expect us at Telford

  and Braslava with an aracve selecon of

  new items and another Mustang. All of these

  events will have their associated Aerparty

  sales. At the end of the year, we should hold

  our tradional Novemberfest, but to be per

  -

  fectly blunt, we are strongly contemplang

  taking this event from the end of the year to

  its beginning. This would bring it to the spring

  of 2020. The thinking behind the move is the

  hecc nature of everything between E-day

  and Christmas, to the point where we are sll

  recovering. It appears that next year will be

  no dierent, and probable worse, given the

  planned move and upgrade of the warehou

  -

  se. Spring tends to be a bit mellower and the

  rst show tends to be at the end of March, so

  the beginning of that month looks like a good

  candidate to hold Novemberfest. Actually,

  a Novemberfest in March sounds like a prey

  cool idea, no?

  I am hopeful that your expectaons of us

  are being met. I put in a lot of spoilers here,

  but at least you know what to look forward

  In May 1944, No. 150 Wing was deemed operational. The Tempest equipped only No. 3 and No. 486 Squadrons, while

  No.56SquadronhadtowaitfortheirnewTempestsuntillateJune1944andusedtheSpitreMk.IXintheinterim.The

  taskoftheTempestsofNo.150Wingatthetimeoftheinvasionwastoprovideaircoveroverthebattleeldandattack

  enemy ground targets but from mid-June, the priority became (as the Tempest was the most suitable aircraft for the task)

  the protection of southern England from V-1 attacks. At the end of September 1944, the entire unit under the leadership of

  BeamontmovedtoliberatedEurope.OnOctober12th,Beamont´smachinewashitbyakandduetoadamagedradiator

  had to put down behind enemy lines and spent the remainder of the war in captivity. Over the course of the Second World

  War, Beamont claimed nine kills and in July 1944 was awarded a bar to his DSO in recognition of his successful leadership

  of the Tempest wing which had destroyed more than 600 V-1s (32 by Beamont himself). After the war, he continued on as

  atestpilotandew,amongothers,theMeteor,Vampire,Canberra,LightingandtheTSR-2.HeretiredinAugust1979and

  died on November 19th, 2001.

  Two days before the invasion of Europe, Beamont‘s aircraft received the prescribed ’Special Markings’ - 18-inch wide black

  and white stripes encircling the rear fuselage and wings.

  No. 486 Squadron was established on March 7th, 1942 at Kirton in Lindsey, and were manned almost exclusively by New

  Zealanders. Initially, the unit was equipped with Hurricanes but later was given the Hawker Typhoon. The unit’s impressive

  recordledtoitbeingoneoftherstunitstochosentoytheTempestMk.V.Thesenewaircraftbegantoarrivethrough

  January and February 1944. It became part of the No. 150 Wing armed with the Tempest and was deemed fully combat

  ready in April 1944.

  ThecamouageschemesofthenewTempestswerecomposedoftheso-calledDayFighterScheme,withDarkGreenand

  Ocean Grey upper and side surfaces and Medium Sea Grey lower surfaces. At this time, the bottom surfaces of the wings

  ofTyphoonsandTempestsweremarkedwithblackandwhitestripesforthepurposesofeasieridenticationoffriendlyair-

  Whitworth F.K.8. In March of the same year, it was re-equipped with the SE.5a and moved to Detling.

  byGothabombersonLondon.‚Nightghting‘SE.5aaircraftwerecamouaged

  in a special coating called NIVO (Night Invisible Varnish Orfordness), and was also
