share the pin-up theme. Stay tuned.
The ProfiPACK line in 1:48th scale introduces a P-51D Mustang in a package
that will be part of the catalog for several years, likely over several re-pops. The
kit will include a nontraditional six marking options covering well known pilots
of the 8th, 9th, 15th and 5th Army Air
Forces. These are essentially very striking aircraft, and you can check these
out further in the product description.
One of the options, that flown by Major
Pierce McKennon, is also covered in the
historical section of today’s newsletter.
It could be said that this follows along
the lines of the Tornado release…everyone knows these aircraft, and they
have been done to death. There will be
those that will curse us up and down
on this, but the majority of modellers
will welcome these marking choices.
The fact is that this group of pilots
have not yet been offered up in a single package. I should also add that, as
of the beginning of February, the Royal
Class boxing of this kit, R0020, is back
in stock, but it won’t be for very long.
On Friday, there were only 200 pieces
remaining. In some way, this is actually
beginning to resemble the situation in
the grocery stores.
We have a Bf 109E-1 in the Weekend Line, which comes to us with new
marking options. The fourth of the kit
quartet for the month is the tiny little
MiG-21MF, bagged under the SUPER44
label.
Turning our attention to accessory
items, of note are several interesting
items in the mask sets. There are two
for the spraying of the anti-glare panels
on HKM’s 1:48th scale B-17G, and, along
similar lines, we have a set for the panels on the F-35B (Italeri, 1:72nd scale).
Then, we have some classic mask sets,
among others for the Modelsvit P-51H
and ICM’s A-26B in 1:48th, the F-15J in
1:72nd scale from Great Wall Hobby,
and, in the same scale, for the Wellington GR Mk.VIII. We also have a standard
canopy mask for the above mentioned
F-35B from Italeri. We also have a mask
for ICM’s 1:32nd scale Gladiator. The
majority of the kits mentioned in the
mask descriptions also have new photoetched sets being released for them
concurrently. This goes for the F-35B,
F-15J and for the Wellington in 1:72nd,
and the same can be said for the A-26B
and B-17G in 1:48th. In the latter scale, we have three sets for the UH-1N
from Kitty Hawk. Two of them are in the
Zoom line, and among these, you’ll also
find other interesting items, such as for
the W-3A Sokol (Answer 1:48th) and
the Mitsubishi T-4 (Hobby Boss, 1:72nd
scale). The remaining Zoom sets are for
kits already mentioned above, such as
the A-26A, the Wellington, etc. There is
also an AFV set, for the M109A7 Paladin
INFO Eduard - March 2020
howitzer for the 1:35th scale Panda kit.
The ship line expands by two sets for
Revell’s German U-Boot Type IX C (U67/
U154) in 1:72nd, and a set for the USS
Yorktown hull (Trumpeter, 1:350th).
The Brassin line in March brings us
the P-38F Cockpit for the 1:48th scale
Tamiya kit, a nice accessory for a nice
kit, which generally guarantees attention. Note the Look set for the Me 262
for the kit from the same manufacturer
in the same scale. In the new Look sub-line, LookPlus, we have two sets for
the Bf 109G-10, and these differ in the
inclusion of the wheels. We introduced
the LookPlus line at Nuremburg, and
it is still a new concept. There is also
a quartet of wheel sets being offered,
for the He 111 and the A-26/B-26 Invader (both from ICM, 1:48th), and the
other two are for the big 1:32nd scale
lugs covering the B-24 (Hobby Boss) and
Lancaster (HKM). The 48th scale B-17G
from HKM will be possible to improve
with a set of superchargers (648536
B-17G) in March. The remainder are
weapons sets in 1:48th and 1:32nd scales, four of which are designed for the
current Tornado GR.1, aka Desert Babe:
the BOZ-EC Pod, Sky Shadow ECM
Pod, the PHIMAT Chaff Dispenser and
ALARM Missiles. Another three sets,
designed around the Tornado GR 1, are
being prepared for April and May, 2020.
You should also note the BigSin P-38F/G
Essential in 1:48th and the five new
BigEds. Among the new items for the
month, there are also three new decal
sheets.
I would like to thank everyone that
visited us at Nuremburg, and especially
those that attended our Friday press
conference. Thanks also to all participants of the Artur event in Prague on
February 20th. I don’t know what was
in the air that night, but the number
of attendees surpassed expectations
by a wide margin. This is leading us at
Eduard, and also at Artur, to consider
a repeat performance. This led to some
overcrowding, and we are seriously considering moving the venue to
a nearby Italian restaurant. They have
a nice floor space available for putting
together evenings such as this, and it
would be a good place to hold this the
next time. We could try the idea out in
June or July. At that time, we should
have out Spitfire Mk.I ready, and it will
need to be properly introduced. By
then, too, this epidemic should have
run its course. And speaking of the Spit,
we have tried out two new moulds, for
the canopy and the fuselage, and things
do not look bad at all. The combination
of positive and negative scribing is very
convincing. We anticipate the usual
wave of naysayers that accompany virtually every new release, but I am convinced that most will accept this feature
with enthusiasm. I like it a lot!
I am off to the Alps. I should be back
in a week or a month. Depends on whether or not my vacation is extended, or
I will need to go into a quarantine. If the
first variation manifests itself, I will be
at Prosek.
Happy Modelling!
