Gabor explaining.
The Weekend Line is represented by
the Avia B.534 of the first production
series in 1/72nd scale.
Among the accessory items, I see
a lot of potential for the set for PT109 from Revell in 1/72nd scale, the
PT Boat that was sailed on by President John F. Kennedy at the time of
Guadalcanal. Besides that, there are
a lot of other interesting little items
to be found, too. Also attractive will
be the newly designed sets for the
A-26B from Revell in 1/48th and for
the Pz.IV Ausf.H from Academy in
1/35th, as well as the P-61A from
Hobby Boss and F-106A from Trumpeter (both in 1/72nd). We really
didn’t want to go into these initially,
I must admit, but we decided to go
with popular demand. I would also
like to point out the two sets of MiG-21MF masks in 1/72nd scale. The
item with the catalog number CX511
is a classic, standard set and overs coverage of only the outside face of the
canopy. CX512 is a TFace item which
masks off both the interior and the
exterior canopy. Both allow for the
masking of the weatherstripping
around the canopy frame, which will
be a challenge for every modeler, but
one well worth the effort.
I touched on the Brassin sets for
the MiG-21MF above, and I would
like to add that this month we are releasing a cokpit set, dubbed ‚Cockpit
Late‘, which in this case refers to the
Greys and modernised camouflaged
aircraft. In July, we will be releasing
a ‚Cockpit Early‘, and these will be
of the camouflaged aircraft as they
were delivered to Czechoslovakia in
the seventies. Minor details and va6
eduard
riations as aircraft were modernized
won’t be covered and we will leave
that up to the creativity of individual
modellers. May‘s releases also offer
wheels, exhausts, weapons pylons
and R-3S missiles in two packagings.
In the R-3S missiles for MiG-21 1/72nd
scale (Cat.No.672185) contain only
the missiles and the rails and in the
R-3S missiles w/ pylons for MiG-21
1/72nd scale (Cat.No.672186) includes the fuselage and wing pylons.
For the MiG-21MF, we are also releasing an individual decal sheet of
stencil data for the type.Of the other
Brassin sets, I would like to point out
the Fw 190A-5 Engine and Fuselage
Guns in 1/48th, designed for the kit
released this May as well. There are
also another two sets of details for
the Bf 109G-6 from Tamiya covering
the radio compartment and the cockpit. I must point out that this latter
set is of the classic Bf 109G-6 armed
with 20mm cannon. For Bf 109G-6/U4
aircraft with 30mm weapons we will
release a cockpit set in June with the
Catalog Number 648411. The Brassin
releases this month are rounded up
by more sets of bombs. Often we are
met with the question as to why we
release the bomb sets that we do,
and ones that should typically be considered ore interesting by most modellers. It’s difficult to answer such
a question and the best answer that
seems to come to mind is ‚because
we do‘. But to satisfy what is, after
all, a reasonable question, I would
respond by saying that our goal is to
eventually produce kits of all known
and used bombs, missiles, training
rounds, reconnaissance pods, drop
tanks and other such items from various periods throughout aviation
history. And in 1/72nd, 1/48th and
1/32nd scales to boot. This might be
an ambitious weapons program, maybe as ambitious as the one pursued
by Comrade Kim Jong-Un, but it is
what it is!
Happy Modelling!
