delivery. That will be possible as part of
the Afterparty for ModellBrno, which
will begin on June 14th (a Friday) and
end on Tuesday, June 18th. Thursday,
June 6th, will kick off our annual ‘The
Longest Day’ event, which will end on
Sunday, June 9th. The resumption of
regular mailings is expected on the 7th
of June.
I have hinted at ModellBrno. This is
slated for next Saturday, the 15th of
June. The evening party for all display
participants will traditionally take place
on Friday evening. This year, ModellBrno will again host the National Junior
Championships and added to this will
be the National Championship in Railroad Modelling, which should prove
to be an interesting deviation from the
regular program. The good news is that
the parking won’t be as restricted as we
had originally feared. It will be possible
to park at the hall itself, although the
number of parking spots will be limited.
After the parking lot fills up, it will be
possible to park temporarily to unload after paying a deposit, the amount
of which will be refunded to you if you
vacate the parking area within the specified length of time. Parking for those
who arrive after the lots are full can be
had beside the Hotel Voronez in front
of Gate No.4. The Royal Class Tempest
Mk.V, which will include a publication
by Chris Thomas, the 1:72nd scale F6F3 ProfiPACK with a new set of markings,
and a 1:32nd scale Bf 109E Limited Edition kit labelled Legion Condor, should all
be available at ModellBrno. There will
also be a selection of Gunze products
on hand that will include new items as
well. There will be the latest Mustang
shots available for viewing, and that
project will by then be nearing completion. There will be only one plastic sprue
missing. That will need to be finished by
the beginning of July, because we have
our pre-premiere Mustang slated to
be ready for August for the line Library
Edition, dubbed CHATTANOOGA CHOO
CHOO. The name of the popular jazz
tune was carried by P-51D-5s flown by
Ed Poque of the 79th FS, 20th FG, 8th Air
Army. It’s one of six marking options of
this pre-premiers edition of the kit. The
actual release of the kit is being timed
to coincide with the IPMS Nationals in
Chattanooga , Tennessee. The kit will be
available at the show, and through our
e-shop as part of the event Afterparty.
They will also be available through retailers, as long as they preorder them
on time. All of the chosen P-51D-5s are
of the later variant, with the tail fillet,
which is the difference between this
and the premiere P-51D Mustang ProfiPACK edition which should be out in
October. This will represent aircraft that
lacked the noted fairing. The Nationals
bring us to August, for which more interesting items are being planned. There
will be the Bf 109G-6/AS in 1:48th scale
as a ProfiPACK kit, a Limited Edition kit
of the MiG-21bis in the same scale, and
the aforementioned Skyhawk will first
see the light of day. But that’s a bit of
a ways off yet, and we’ll talk more about
that over Brno.
For now, I wish you all good reading
of this issue of our newsletter. Happy
Modelling!
