for the Bf 109G-6 from Tamiya, which
brings to an end the accessory items
developed for this kit. There will be the
BigSins, but then Bob’s yer uncle. That
first BigSin for the Bf 109G-6 is being released for August and is the ESSENTIAL
set. September will see the release of
the ADVANCED set. What is included
in these sets is not necessary to explain
at any unecessary length, since that is
obvious from the illustrations that can
be found below in this newsletter. Also
attractive will be the cockpit set released for our simultaneously available
Bf 109G-10, also in 1/48th scale. There are also two mask sets being sold
for the Bf 109G-10, a TFace set and a
classic set. In the same scale, we ahve
cannon pods for the fw 190A-5/U12 for
the Eduard kit and for the Eduard miG-21MF in 1/72nd scale, we have an ejection seat. In this smaller scale, we have
a couple of sets, wheels and exhausts,
for the Ki-61 Hien from Tamiya and a
wheel set for the Wellington Mk.I from
Airfix. The Wellington also turns out to
be a good subject matter for masks and
PE this month. August sees the release
of three photoetched sets and a mask
set and there will be more over September and October. While on the subject
of PE and masks, I would also point out
new sets for the L-39 EVOLUTION kit
where the PE set is an expanded item
and the masks are TFace. In 1/48th scale for August, we are also releasing sets
for the F-18B/D from Kinetic and the
Firefly Mk.I from Trumpeter. The Trum-
peter MiG-29UB in 1/32nd scale is also
covered, including the TFace masks.
In the ship scale of 1/700, we are offering signal flags in a coloured PE set and
in 1/350 the first set for the USS Enterprise CVN-65 from Tamiya, the first of
many yet to come.
So, there is no danger of boredom
in Phoenix. Not if we can help it. This
is a four day event after which we will
relax with a bit of running around the
Pima museum and then continue on.
A little way from Flagstaf, at a little intersection near the Grand Canyon,
there is a Bf 109G-10 in a museum.
We’ve been there twice already, but
a third time won’t hurt, I’m sure. I am
also sure there will be no boredom in
Plzen either, at PilsenKit on September
1st. This is the perfect time to introduce new items for September, and these
will, of course, be available there. For
fans of 1/72nd scale, we will have the
MiG-21MF Fighter Bomber kit. This is
the more interesting of the two MF kits,
serving with something like fifty countries around the world and carrying
a like number of interesting marking and
camouflage possibilities. The BFC component of this kit will include an SPS141 ECM pod. For quarter scale fans,
we are preparing an impressive Limited
Edition kit under the equally impressive
name Reichsverteidigung, which we
have dubbed here Reichsblahblahblah.
Blah. I hope our German friends will be
forgiving, but come on – sometimes the
length of those names is a bit overdo-
ne. The contents of the kit will be consistent with its name, and it will not be
something to be built over the course
of a weekend. It will take more than
that just to give the thing a once-over!
Most importantly, Reichsblahblah will
be the introduction of the new-tooled
Fw 190A-8/R2 Sturmbock from the new
190 line of kits. I must admit that with
respect to the number of kits we sold
of the Sturmbock from the initial (older
tool) kit, we don’t want to release another classic ProfiPACK line of the same
subject and at the same time beat the
old marking options to death with it. So
our approach is taking this into careful
consideration, and in the vast majority
of cases, the markings have not been
included in any of the other kits. The
same goes for the Bf 109G-6/G-14, the
other component of the Dual Combo
kit. I have not stated til now that this
will be a Dual Combo type boxing. Nor
have I said that there will be two BFC
items available for it. One will be a Bf
109G-6 with a pair of Brassin WGr.21
underwing rocket pods. The other will
be based on the Fw 190A-8/R2 with
a rear firing WGr.21 hung under the fuselage. Also Brassin. Bombastic, if you
ask me!
Happy Modelling!
