EDITORIALThe holiday season is behind us and so withit goes the relative calm. I say ‘relative’, be-cause, in fact, there was no shortage here ofaction. As an example, the ‘Lost Postman’ eventsaw the sending out of over a thousand ordersover a ve day period. In June, the Bf 109GRoyal Class release kept us hopping a goodpace, despite intensive debate on the internet.Feedback we have received at the shows thatwe’ve attended since its release have not pro-ven nearly as critical. In fact, the feedback atthese shows has been downright positive, butthat tends to be the way things go. The RC kitis not available at our e-shop at the momentbecause stocks of the beer glasses have runout, and it should be noted that with produc-tion-wide vacation period at the producer, wewon’t be able to get more before the latterhalf of September. The Bf 109G glasses arethe phenomenon of the year, and their salesgures are beyond the curve. No accessoryhas ever sold as well. So, things being whatthey are, we are maintaining our physical con-dition in the current tempo, which is threate-ning to cross over into downright hyperactivityin the coming days.September will sees another web event star-ting tomorrow, September 2. It is dedicatedto the anniversary of the end of the SecondWorld War with a new set, 53127 PacicV-day Figures 1/200. We released a similarset in 1/350 scale and at the time, the set ge-nerated a lot of interest. I am hopeful that thistime will be no different. The gures for thePacic V-day theme are the eleventh set dedi-cated to the USS Missouri in 1/200 scale. Theconditions of the sales event for September2 can be found here.In September, we are releasing two kits forrelease on the 1st, but only one, ‘Danger Zone’will be available. This is the F-14A in 1/48th.The plastic hails from Hobby Boss, and arecomplemented with photoetching, masks,Brassin items to include the seats, wheels andexhausts, and rounded out by an impressivedecal sheet printed by Cartograf and de-signed by Furball Aero Design. As can beseen, the model kit is a result of wide co-ope-ration. The price of it may well come acrossas being quite high, but it is consistent with thelevel of expended energy required to put itall together and with the high standard ondnumber of components included. In this re-spect, there are several new items and newlines that need to be considered. In the Brassinline, there is set no. BIGSIN 4814 containingresin armament, and three photoetched sets.48817 F-14A Upgrade Set complements thebrass included in the kit. Set 49069 seatbeltsFABRIC contains, as the name suggests, fab-ric seatbelts, and Set 49693 F-14 RemoveBefore Flight SUPER FABRICcontains the RBF tags rele-vant to the F-14. In case youare not aware, the differencebetween the FABRIC and SU-PER FABRIC labels is that pro-ducts labeled FABRIC containlaser cut fabric type (paper)belts which, with the separa-tely etched buckles, are veryconvincing, if somewhat laborintensive to build up. The SU-PER FABRIC items are printedwith a special gum type paintand are very easy to assem-ble, and lose nothing in termsof realism. In this sub-line,there are four new items onoffer for September in 1/72 scale.The second kit for September goes on saleon our e-shop on September 17th. It is calledPRVNI DOMA (translates as FIRST ONESHOME), and contains plastic covering the La-vochkin La-5FN (ex-Zvezda) and the La-7 (ex--Gavia), both in 1/48th scale. It is dedicatedto these aircraft used in the CzechoslovakianAir Force during the Second World War andimmediately after. Besides the plastic, there isthe obligatory photoetched brass and masks,and an extensive decal sheet . It also includesa publication on this theme penned by Jiri Vra-ny. It may seem that pretty much everythingthat can be known on the subject is known, butwe are quite convinced that our publication,and the kit, will present new information, newphotographs and new historical perspectives.This product follows the idea rst presentedby last year’s ‘THE BOYS ARE BACK’, with thedifference being that the current offering willbe available from retailers in general, whowill be able to carry them from the same Sep-tember 17 date. The signicance of Septem-ber 17th will be clear to Czechs and Slovaks,but the rest may need to be made aware ofthat signicance. It was on that day in 1944when the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Squadronwithin the Soviet Air Force landed at Zolna inSlovakia in Rebel held territory surrounded byGerman forces. It was the only higher air for-ce element to operate several weeks behindenemy lines in an organized manner.This format, that includes a detailed publi-cation, will carry on in the future. In October,we will release another such package, SILVERARROWS, dedicated to the MiG-21PF, PFMand R in Czechoslovak, Czech and Slovakservice. This item will be interesting not only byvirtue of its contents, that will see the rst re-lease of items specic to the MiG-21PF. It willalso prove interesting through the inclusion ofa detailed publication written by Mr. MartinJanousek. It has 88 pages backed up by pre-viously unseen photography with substantialdescriptions and pilot accounts covering theuse of the second generation MiG-21 from thesixties through to the nineties. The decal sheetis printed by Cartograf and contains markingsfor 32 aircraft. There will be 1500 boxingsproduced. Important, and unique, will be themakeup of moldings contained in the kit, andalso of those offered as accessories. Kits thatwill be offered at the retail level will allow thebuilding of either the MiG-21PF, PFM or R. Dueto size constraints, the kits wil not include treesthat contain the weapons. These will, however,be available as OVERTREES from our websto-re. There will, naturally, be other OVERTREEsprues available. For one thing, they will beavailable for each version offered, and the-re will also be one that contains the minutedetail parts, because trees containing theversion specic fuselages and wings will formthe basis of the kit, and these OVERTREES aredesigned to make use of those specic itemsin the kit not used and by this way, to makecomplete kits out of what is already includedat a minimal price. Besides the OVERTREES,there will also be Item No.1159, STRIBRNESIPY EMPTY (or ‘Silver Arrows Empty’). As thename suggests, this package will not containany specic moldings, and in that sense willbe ‘empty’, but will contain instructions, publi-cations, decals and masks. The plastic will bea customer-specied mix of OVERTREES forone specic version. Does that come acrossas a bit complicated. And that’s not all. Therewill also be the offer of OVERETCHES, or in-dividual version-specic frames, among whichwill also be seven parts for grey-cockpit MiG--21PFMs. How ‘bout now? With the kitavailable there, we will be in a position totake shifts and help all those that will requireit in packing their kits. And with that, you havealso just been informed that STRIBRNE SIPY/MiG-21PF, PFM and R in the CSLA will be rstavailable at E-day on September 27 and 28.So, that brings me to E-day. You’ll note thatI have cleverly and quietly avoided the discu-ssion of most of the new photoetched, Brassin,and other items normally discussed here. I amsure that you will all be able to nd thosethings that turn your crank without my help.E-day will again be held at the garage ve-nue, in which the lighting issues have now beencentre of attention here for the past severalmonths. We have received a lot of suggestionsas to where we could move E-day to. We de-cided to stay where we are and to upgradethe lighting. After discussions with the ownersof the venue, we have decided to install ano-ther one hundred light xtures. It won’t bedark. Although, I won’t discount the possibilitythat I will read at Nurimberg that it was, inde-ed, dark. I am sure that many of you are nowwondering what the admissions kit purchase isto be, as has become tradition, but I will notsay. You might already have a pretty goodidea on your own as to what that might be. Butto throw you a bit of a curve, I will tell you thatthere will be two admissions kits, maybe eventhree. For kids, for modelers, and for compe-titors, something for everyone. There will alsobe the roundtable discussion, and there will belots to talk about this year, and there will bemore microphones. And if anyone would liketo add another rm to the discussion, drop mea line, and I will try to arrange it.In the last two years, we have managed toeliminate the queue at our booth on Eday.Unfortunately, the long queue at the entranceremained . So this year, we will focus oneliminating also this problem and take someaction, which will hopefully lead to signicantimprovement, in terms of the entrance capa-city.Now, it is also a good time to point out thisyear´s Novemberfest. It will be held again onthe last weekend in November, with the arri-val on Friday, when the attendants will havea chance to visit our new sales departmentand stock facilities in the near town of Most.The actual event will take place on Saturday.Sunday should be the departure day. Thecapacity of this event will be same as lastyear, which is 144 attendants. Also the sche-dule of the event will be similar, with only sli-ght changes. For example, the mask cutting,which seemed to be not as interesting as weexpected, will be replaced by a lecture on thecompany´s history and a discussion. Due tothe move of our stock to the new facilities inMost, we will also have to exclude the stockvisit from the Saturday schedule. The store willbe open and available for a visit, purchaseand preorder´s pick up during Friday. Therewill be a shuttle bus available from Obrniceto Most, or you can of course use your owntransport.Besides E-day, we will also take part in PilsenKit, as every year, and this year we will haveour debut at Opol in Poland. How to be at somany shows and to simultaneously undertaketwo sales events in one month has been a topicof discussion around these parts. Butbecause it was written usinga chalk, it did not last for long.This particular plane served inthe postwar Czechoslovakia aswell, there is a maintenanceinspection documented inNovember 1946 (cca one yearafter its ofcial operating life).The Solvak National Uprising began on August29, 1944, and German forces immediately re-acted. Two days later, on the 31st, the Uprisinglost a signicant part of its aerial assets whenthree ights of the so-called Eastern SlovakArmy ew over the front lines onto the Sovietside with their relatively modern weapons. Thetransfer of the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Regi-ment to Slovakia was of signicant help.Twenty-one La-5FNs ew from Stubno witha layover at Krosno heading for the aireld atZolne, not far from Zvolen.There was a small delay due to technical dif-culties of La-5FN ‚58‘ own by skpt. Fajtl, whohad to return for repairs to Krosno and toge-ther with ppor S. Hlucka ying La-5FN ‚24‘, theydidn‘t arrive until late afternoon. Npor. Steh-lik remained at Tri Duby with La-5FN ‚88‘ anda total of twenty ghters landed at Zolna. Andso, with a ceremonial display in front of the nati-onal ag, the y-over had been completed, andresulted in the naming of September 17th asCzechoslovak Air Force Day.The Laochkin pilots immediately went to workying combat missions. The rst take-off toengage the enemy took place on that day at1850h by ppor. Kruta. The opponents of the 1stCzechoslovak Fighter Regiment were elementsof the Luftwaffe. Air combat broke out on Oc-tober 18th, when there was a large Germanraid on Banska Bystrica at 1130h by elevenFw 190 and Bf 109 over Tri Duby. They weremet by a pair of La-5FNs on a patrol ightown by ppor. Hlucka, who shot down one Fw190 and damaged another, while ppor. Stickadamaged two others. The Germans were ableto shoot up Hlucko‘s right elevator, but the pilotwas able to land his Lavochkin safely at Zolna.In the afternoon, successes were enjoyed byrtm. Dobrovodsky, when rst he damged a Ju88 and shot down another, and likely also anFw 189. He ew within a pair of aircraft withnpor. Chabera, who lit up the starboard engi-ne of a Ju 88, while ppor. Srom likely downeda Ju 87 followed by the aming of a Bf 109G.The squadron‘s ghters, to a large extent,compensated for the lack of bomber aircraft.Although there were many raids own againstthe advancing German units by the Uprising‘sCombined Flight, the bulk of such duties fellon the backs of the pilots of the Lavochkinsfrom Zolna. They ew not only attacks againsttransport assets of the enemy, but also againsttanks and artillery, stockpiles and other tar-gets. HISTORYMembers of the 1st Czechoslovak FighterRegiment observe the return of anotherregiment’s La-5FN to the Zolna aireld,17th of September 1944.(L. Valoušek via StanislavHlučka / Archiv Jan Zdiarský)Attrition during these raids and general wearand tear took their toll on the number of servi-ceable aircraft. By the 20th of October, theunit operated with only ten La-5FNs from TriDuby, to where they transferred as early asOctober 12th due to the threatening conditi-ons around Zolna.The Slovak National Uprising, under pressurefrom the German units, was nearing its end.The withdraw of the Uprising was hastenedwhen Tri Duby was directly threatened byGerman artillery, and for that reason, the re-turn of the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Regimentto the Soviet side of the front was ordered onOctober 24th, 1944, for which thanks to thededication of the mechanics and groundcrewcould be made by twelve aircraft. Three dayslater, the Uprising ceased to exist as an orga-nized force and switched to being a partisanone.Only the threesome of skpt. Fajtl, npor. Cha-bera and ppor. Srom crossed the CarpathianMountains to reach the aireld of Stryj. NporStehlik, Lieutenants Hlucka, Kocfelda, Stic-ka, Vendl, Valousek and rtm. Dobrovodskyheaded southeast and only Valousek man-aged to land at Oradea Mare in Romania.The other ve members of the group landedin elds in the vicinity of the town and weretaken care of by Cossack elements of the RedArmy, as were their aircraft. Only P. Kocfelda-‘s aircraft was interned by a local cop afterlanding in a bean eld near the distant villageof Varfurile.Pilots of the 1st Czechoslovak Fighter Regi-ment, over the course of the Slovak NationalUprising, claimed a total of eleven conrmedand three probable kills. The most successfulof the pilots was ppor. Srom with 3.5 conr-med and two probables. He was followed bynpor. Stehlik, ppor. Kocfeld and ppor. Hlucka,each with 1.5 conrmed kills. Rtm. Dobrovod-sky got one conrmed and one probable kill,ppor. Skopal one conrmed. The downing ofa Storch at Prievidza was not awarded to anyof the pilots. Combat claimed the lives of ppor.F. Vaculik, ppor. B. Mraz and ppor. T. Motycka,and later, as a partisan, por. R. Borovec. Ppor.Kruta was captured and ppor. Rtm.Dobrovodsky took off in it from Tri Duby aireld and bellied in Romania, wherethe aircraft was abandoned.Shots of lieutenant Pavel Kocfeldaand Staff Sargent Antonin Vendl infront of the same aircraft destinedto carry a girl‘s name with slight-ly different spelling. In contrast toanother of our pilots, after who-se death six English women cameforward claiming widow benets,in this case one girl had a closefriendship with two Czech pilots.It was a strong friendship, since shecame to see them in Prague even asan older lady several years later.Both of her pilots started out ingliders and sports aircraft yingamong thousands in the Republic,that in the thirties was sufferingfrom the slow process of the trai-ning of pilots for the CzechoslovakAir Force. This was learned thehard way by three Bf 109 pilotswho saw him as an easy targetduring skirmishes around Ban-ska Bystrica on October 18th,1944, as well as two others, wholost their appetite on April 16th,1945 for an IL-2 at Ostrava im-mediately after Vendl‘s hits.As opposed to P. Kocfelda, af-ter returning from Slovakia andattached to the 2nd Czechoslo-vak Fighter Squadron, A. Vendlew combat again as a depu-ty CO of the 2nd Squadron,1st Czechoslovak Air Regiment.While escorting attack aircraft,he refreshed his attacks again-st ground targets which he wasprocient at in France, Belgiumand Slovakia from the attack onPiestany to an attack on an ar-mored train two days prior to theevacuation from the collapsingSlovak National Uprising.La-5FN ‚13‘, adorned with a gi-rl‘s name for photo taking pur-poses only, was the personalaircraft of P. Kocfelda in whichduring a ight to Zolna he brou-ght the national ag. During theight, he had wrapped aroundhis body under his shirt. Hispractical thinking is demonstra-ted by the fact that from Stubnohe also carried half a pig. Thiscame in handy when the inhabi-tants of the village of Lieskovechosted a gathering for pilots be-ing transported by bus to Zvolen.Flying this aircraft, Npor F. Cha-bera shared in the downing ofa Ju 87 on October 7, 1944,followed the next day by ano-ther shared kill of an Fw 189 byppor. Srom. Three days later itwas written off in a landing acci-dent by ppor. IXe withmarking OU D and inscription Waipawa Special. La-tely, we have been delighted to have the opportunityto exchange a few letters with the pilot of this particu-lar plane, Max Collett. We asked him to kindly sharesome of his memories of ying the Spitre and hismilitary career with the readers of our INFO e-maga-zine. So let´s pass the word to Max Collett:“I enlisted in the Air Force on my 18th birthday, 25thOctober 1941 and actually joined up on 1st April1942. I joined the Air Force as I had two brothers al-ready in the Air Force and you could enlist at 18 insteadof having to wait until 21 for the Army.I ew Tiger Moths in New Zealand, Harvards and Ya-les in Canada, Miles Masters in England and Spitresat O.T.U. (Operational Training Unit), and was nallyposted to 485 (N.Z.) Squadron when it was at rest inDrem, Scotland, after a very hectic time in 11 group inthe South of England. We landed in France, CarpiquetAirld in Normandy, on 26th August 1944 as partof 145 Wing attached to and giving close supportto the Canadian army. By this stage the Luftwaffe hadbeen defeated and we spent the rest of the war divebombing and stafng at the Army´s request. On 20thSeptember I received my own personal aircraft, NH432OU-D and I immediately christened her “WaipawaSpecial” after my home town, Waipawa in Hawke´sBay New Zealand. We were also invol-ved in dive bombing bridges over the river Rhine and during one of these I was hit by anti-aircraft re and had to bale out. FortunatelyI was over our line so was not captured.As a matter of interest, while in Europe we had a Czech intelligence ofcer serving with the Squadron. Vishniakov served with the 171st IAP from May 1942 to May 1945. Henished the war as the regiment deputy CO. He destroyed 20 enemy aircraft andthree more shared. He took part in the brief war against Japan in August 1945. Hewas awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union on February 23, 1948. The inscriptionon the fuselage ‚For Oleg Koshevoy‘ commemerates the member of the commu-nist underground movement, the ‚Young Guard‘ that was active during the Germanoccupation in the town of Krasnodon (in present day Ukraine). Oleg Koshevoj issaid to have organized many sabotage operations. In January, 1943, he was cap-tured by the Germans and executed on February 9. Tornado ECR 46+38
At this year's NATO Tiger Meet held in Beja, Portugal, the 1st Squadron of Germany’s Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 51 based at Schleswig, Germany, was present with six Tornado aircraft in both the IDS and ECR versions. The aircraft with fuselage number 46+38 was adorned with a matte sand scheme reflecting the Desert Tiger theme. The camouflage was very attractive and finished second in terms of the most attractive scheme, right behind a domestic F-16.

Na letošním NATO Tiger Meetu v portugalské Beji působila 1. letka německého křídla Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 51 z německého Schleswigu se šesti letouny Tornado v obou provozovaných verzích – IDS i ECR. Letoun s trupovým číslem 46+38 byl opatřen matným nástřikem pískových barev reflektujících téma pouštního tygra (Desert Tiger). Kamufláž byla velmi líbivá, v celkovém hodnocení tygřích zbarvení skončila na druhém místě hned za domácí F-16.

However, Western military assistance is becoming increasingly important for the Ukrainian Air Force. In recent months, F-16 fighters have carried the main burden of combat, performing up to 80 percent of Ukrainian Air Force missions.

Finucane’s Spitfire
Irish fighter pilot Brendan Finucane ranks among the most famous figures in the history of aerial combat during the Second World War. Not only his combat career and tragic death are surrounded by numerous question marks, but even one of his Spitfires required a thorough reassessment of all previously published material during the preparation of the kit and box art. The non-standard upper-surface scheme depicted in Piotr Forkasiewicz’s box art has already sparked debate within the modelling community. It is therefore useful to explain in more detail how we arrived at this interpretation.

Irský stíhací pilot Brendan Finucane patří mezi nejznámější osobnosti historie leteckých bojů z období druhé světové války. Nejen jeho bojová činnost a tragická smrt je opředena řadou otazníků, ale i jeden z jeho Spitfirů si při přípravě stavebnice a boxartu vyžádal důkladnou revizi dosud zveřejněných podkladů. Nestandardní schéma horních ploch, zobrazené na boxartu Piotra Forkasiewicze již vyvolalo v modelářské komunitě diskusi. Proto bude užitečné podrobněji vysvětlit, jak jsme k této interpretaci došli.
Introducing... Spitfire Mk.Vb ProfiPACK 1/72
Here it is, the new 1/72 Spitfire from Eduard is out! It has a completely new look, with all tools made entirely by Eduard, unlike the Spitfire Mk.IX 1/72, for which some of the tools were finished in China. The kit consists of three larger sprues and one medium sprue with clear parts. The entire project is designed as a family of Spitfires Mk.I, Mk.II, and Mk.V, thus some sprues contain common parts for all these versions and their subversions, and so we find several parts in the sprues that we will not use to build the selected version. I won't keep you in suspense any longer, let's take a look at what the kit contains.

We usually write about E-day no later than the week after the event, but this year it is different. As you know, E-day was held in Litomerice on the first Saturday of October, and we are just now in the process of evaluating it, after one month. Of course, this has its reasons. There is an advantage to looking back at it after almost a month, with peace of mind and a cool head. I think I will not contradict the assessment of E-day participants when I say that it was a very good event.

GSh-23 Aircraft Cannon
Certainly, the Soviet (Russian) GSh-23 aerial cannon rates near the top of the world’s widely used automatic aircraft weapons. The name of the weapon is again derived from the initials of its designers, V.P. Grjazev and A.G. Shipunov, while the number 23 indicates the weapon’s calibre in millimeters.

Jedním z představitelů celosvětově rozšířených vysokokadenčních leteckých automatických zbraní je bezesporu sovětský (ruský) typ GŠ-23. Název zbraně je opět odvozen z počátečních písmen svých konstruktérů, pánů V. P. Grjazeva a A. G. Šipunova, číslo 23 znamená ráži kanónu v milimetrech.

This version is one of the most popular of all P-40s, mainly thanks to its colorful paint scheme and attractive prototypes. Vážení přátelé, modeláři, hosté a návštěvníci E-daye, V dnešním krátkém mimořádném vydání Infa vás seznámíme s plánovaným programem letošního E-daye, který se koná v sobotu 28. září 2024 v hale muzea na Tankodromu Milovice. Výstava je jednodenní, ale jako obvykle bude výstavní hala otevřena, nejen pro vystavující modeláře, již v pátek od 17:00. Na pátek máme připravený malý program pro všechny časné příchozí. Tento podvečerní program má dva body. Prvním bude představení novinek Eduardu na rok 2025, které se bude opakovat i v sobotu. Druhým bodem bude beseda s Jiřím Šilhánkem, zakladatelem a majitelem firmy Special Hobby. Jiří je velká osobnost našeho oboru, který své podnikání rozjížděl dávno před všemi ostatními českými firmami, hluboko v osmdesátých letech. Jeho historky z dějin plastikového modelářství jsou neuvěřitelné a všem doporučuji si je poslechnout. Věřte mi, že to stojí za páteční cestu do Milovic!

Vážení přátelé, dnešní mimořádné číslo Infa je věnováno mimořádné stavebnici, The Bloody Hundredth 1943/ B-17F 1:48. Tato stavebnice vydávaná v řadě LIMITED patří mezi položky, jejichž základem jsou výlisky nakoupené u spolupracujících firem. V tomto případě jde o výlisky firmy Hong Kong Models, HKM. Tentokrát jde ovšem spolupráce mezi našimi firmami dál, než je v podobných případech dodávek výlisků zvykem. Speciálně k této stavebnici jsme zkonstruovali konverzní rámeček s čirými díly, obsahující další verze přídí B-17F, než které obsahuje původní sestava dílů stavebnice HKM. Tento rámeček jsme zkonstruovali v Eduardu, pochopitelně s využitím konstrukce HKM, na kterou nové díly navazují. Forma na něj byla vyrobena firmou HKM v jejich čínské nástrojárně, výlisky byly vyrobeny tamtéž.

Dear Friends, Today's special issue of the newsletter is dedicated to an extraordinary kit, ‘The Bloody Hundredth 1943 / B-17F’ in 1:48th scale. This kit, released in the LIMITED edition line, falls under the group of items based on moldings purchased from partner companies. In this case, the plastic is supplied by Hong Kong Models, HKM. This time, however, the cooperation between our companies goes further than is customary in similar endeavors. Specifically for this kit, we have designed an additional set of clear parts that cover variations used on the B-17F nose that were not a part of the original HKM release. We designed the new parts to fit the HKM kit specifically. The mold for it was cut at HKM in their Chinese tool shop, and the parts are produced by them.

Určitě nejsem sám, komu se pravidelně stává, že se jeho předpoklady a představy o průběhu nějaké události nenaplní a výsledek je zcela opačný, než jaká byla očekávání s onou událostí spojená. Mě se to naposledy stalo před měsícem v Norimberku. Co jsem od veletrhu čekal, si jistě pamatujete z minulého úvodníku. Z mé skeptické předpovědi nevyšlo prakticky nic. Ne že by se už veletrh vrátil tam, kde byl za starých časů před covidovými lockdowny, ale byl výrazně živější, zajímavější a ve svém výsledku zábavnější a užitečnější, než bych si troufl očekávat. Troufnu si dokonce tipnout, že podobný názor má víc vystavovatelů. Mimo jiné se opakovala situace z loňska, že rozhovory a setkání byla daleko vřelejší, přátelštější a otevřenější, než kdykoli v minulosti. Možná je to jen můj pocit, ale přijde mi, že jsme se navzájem zase rádi viděli, v mnoha případech i po několika letech. V takových případech si uvědomíte, jak vám ti lidé, které jste vídal tak nějak samozřejmě a nepřišlo vám na tom nic zvláštního, přirostli k srdci a jak vám chyběli. Pak se tak hovory víc otevřou, a to je fajn.

Mnoho méně zkušených modelářů má velkou fobii z řezání do plastů nebo z většího ztenčování plastových dílů pro zástavbu doplňkových sad. V tomto díle bych chtěl čtenářům představit, že tyto pokročilejší modelářské činnosti nejsou nic těžkého a s využitím vhodných nástrojů a pomůcek se dá snadno dobrat k potřebným úpravám. Prakticky všechny větší brassinové sady po modeláři vyžadují, aby podobné úpravy při jejich zástavbách provedl. Pokud se někteří modeláři obávají doplňkové sady kupovat právě kvůli zmíněným úpravám, chtěl bych jim ukázat, že to s trochou praxe zvládnou i oni. V článku demonstruji přípravu křídla P-51B/C 1/48 pro zástavbu brassinové sady zbraňových šachet. Představím dvě metody – za pomocí pouze základních modelářských nástrojů a poté s pomocí jemné vrtačky a frézky od firmy Proxxon.
How work with Plastic II
Many less experienced modelers often feel apprehensive about cutting into plastic or thinning parts to accommodate additional detailing or conversion sets. In this section, I want to reassure readers that these more advanced modeling techniques are not difficult and that, with the right tools, achieving the necessary modifications is quite manageable. Most larger Brassin sets require modelers to make similar adjustments to their builds. For those hesitant to purchase aftermarket sets due to this process, I aim to show that, with a bit of practice, anyone can master it. In this article, I will demonstrate how to prepare a 1/48 P-51B/C wing for the Brassin gun bay set. I will present two methods: one using only basic modeling tools, and the other employing a motorized Proxxon tool.

V tomto článku o pracovních postupech bych se chtěl věnovat těm nejzákladnějším modelářským postupům a technikám a demonstrovat nářadí, které mi pomáhá při rutinních činnostech, které by měl každý modelář zvládat. K této demonstraci jsem si vybral nový model P-51B/C 1/48, který má spoustu vychytávek pro jednoduché lepení modelu, například spodní vtoky u dílů, což především začátečníkům velmi usnadní práci. Pro zkušené modeláře se bude na první pohled nejspíš jednat o zbytečnou spotřebu digitálního papíru, ovšem přečtení doporučuji i jim. Opakování je totiž matka moudrosti!

Dobrý den, vážení přátelé! Dnešní úvodník píši zase po roce v Norimberku. Letošní Spielenwarenmesse začal v úterý, dnes jsme přesně v polovině, veletrh končí v sobotu. Pořadatelé se s německou houževnatostí drží pěti dnů trvání akce, čímž jdou většině účastníků pěkně na nervy. Je to sice lepší než šest dnů, které na nás zkoušeli dříve, ale stále je to nejméně o den víc, než tu chceme a potřebujeme být. Z hlediska účasti firem je veletrh letos určitě lepší než loni, ale pokud jde o návštěvníky, obchodníky a žurnalisty, tak je situace víceméně stále bídná. Panuje tu klid. Klid je někdy fajn, ale na veletrhu je klid asi tak to poslední, co na něm chce vystavovatel zažít. Možná se to zítra a pozítří změní a veletrh ožije, ale žádné indicie k tomu nemáme. Tak začínáme uvažovat o odboji. Jak to dopadlo vám napíšu v příštím úvodníku.

With German tenacity, the organizers are sticking with the five-day duration of the event, which gets on the nerves of most participants.

Vítejte v novém roce, vážení přátelé, vítejte u tříkrálového Infa! Lednové novinky jsou již bezmála tři týdny v prodeji, předpokládám tedy, že jste s nimi již zevrubně seznámeni a mnozí je již máte doma. Přesto musím zmínit, že z mého pohledu začínáme letošní rok pěkně zostra. Při prvním pohledu na čtvrtkového Albatrosa D.III to tak možná nevypadá, ale i on byl svého času vrcholovým predátorem válečného nebe a stavebnice přináší vrcholný mix příběhů a osudů jeho pilotů i jejich soupeřů tak, jak je u nás dobrým zvykem. Měli jsme také více než dobrý důvod si toto téma oživit, jak se za chvíli dočtete.

Welcome to the New Year! January’s new releases have been on sale for almost three weeks now, so I assume that you are already thoroughly familiar with them and many of you already have them in your posession. Nevertheless, I have to mention that, from my point of view, we are starting this year off with a bit of a bang. A first glance at the 48th scale Albatros D.III may not indicate this, but it too was once the top predator in a sky dominated by war clouds, and this kit offers a superb mix of stories and fates of its pilots and their opponents, as is our custom to uncover over the course of a kit’s development. We also had more than good reason to revive this topic, as you are about to find out.

Dobrý den, vážení přátelé! Po tříleté přestávce jsme se letos opět vypravili do Telfordu, a je dobře, že jsme se odhodlali tam jet. Přeci jen je Británie kolébkou našeho byznysu, výstava v Telfordu je největší výstavou v našem oboru a chybět na ní by byla chyba. V příštím roce budeme na výstavy vyrážet dál. Na přelomu ledna a února začneme tradičně v Norimberku. Pevně doufám, že tam letos potkáme víc kolegů z jiných firem i víc obchodníků a novinářů než loni. Přiznám se, že jsem trochu napjatý. Podle účasti firem v Norimberku můžeme posuzovat nakolik se svět vrací do normálu a všichni bychom byli určitě rádi za zjištění, že tomu tak je a svět se do normálu opravdu vrací.

Good day, Dear Friends, After a three-year break, we made a return to Telford, and it was a triumphant return at that! After all, Britain is the cradle of our business, and the Telford event is the biggest exhibition in our field and it would be a mistake to miss it. Our plan is to continue attending such events, beginning with Nuremberg in January/February.

S listopadovými novinkami jsme na tom stejně jako s říjnovými, také už jsou druhý týden v prodeji, a tak už je přinejmenším velká část čtenářů Infa zná, pokud už je rovnou nemá doma. Někteří už je dokonce lepí, a ano, jsou i tací, kteří už je mají dokonce postavené. To ovšem není v případě Bf 109 G-2 nebo G-4, obsahu té nej nej nej dvaasedmdesátinové novinky, nic složitého.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to take up precious real estate thoroughly describing the event today, since that will be covered in a Special Edition of our newsletter, slated to come out the second week of October. However, in today’s issue you will find a basic photo gallery of what was there. This year, the second to be held in Milovice, confirmed the potential of the Tankodrom for an event of this type. Vážení přátelé, vítám vás u srpnového Infa a zdravím z texaského Corpus Christi, kudy s kolegy projíždíme na cestě do San Marcos na tradiční letní IPMS USA Nats. Budeme v Texasu dva týdny, po Nats se přesuneme na sever do Dallasu, kde je naším hlavním plánem studium tří exemplářů P-40 Warhawk. Chceme si ověřit nějaké detaily a průběhy křivek a případně si nějaké pasáže naskenovat.

Dobrý den, vážení přátelé! Ještě před koncem první poloviny letošního roku jsme stihli přestěhovat do nového areálu v Sedleci balení modelů. To nám významně zjednodušilo logistiku, protože dosud jsme výlisky vozili z Obrnic do Mostu, kde jsme stavebnice zabalili a odvezli je do skladu obchodního oddělení v Sedleci. Ta místa od sebe nejsou daleko, je to v řádu jednotek kilometrů, ale i tak jsme se dost najezdili. Teď dělí balení modelů a sklad obchodního oddělení jedna stěna a dvoje dveře, sklad výlisků je přes dvůr.

Hello, dear friends! Even before the end of the first half of this year, we managed to move our model packaging operation to our new facility in Sedlec. This significantly simplifies our logistics, because until now, we would typically move the plastic pressings from Obrnice to Most, where they would be packed into kits, and then transported them to our warehouse and sales department in Sedlec.

Těmi báječnými novými stroji jsou Messerschmitty Bf 109 F, které při svém zavedení do výzbroje německé Luftwaffe na začátku roku 1941 přinesly nárůst výkonů a kvality německého stíhacího letectva.

This “Wonderful New Machines” kit centres around the Messerschmitt Bf 109F, which, when introduced into the arsenal of the Luftwaffe at the beginning of 1941, brought an increase in the performance and quality of German fighters committed to aerial combat.

Dobrý den, vážení přátelé! Na začátku května se soutěžní sezóna pěkně rozjíždí. Máme za sebou tradiční Mošoň, v sobotu se koná Kit show v Kopřivnici, a tak je čas říci si také něco o letošním E-dayi. E-day 2023 se koná v sobotu 23. září na Tankodromu v Milovicích. Pojedeme podle stejného schématu jako vloni, tedy se začátkem pro vystavující modeláře v pátek odpoledne, a to včetně podvečerního programu.

Good Day, Dear Friends We are at the beginning of May, and so the competition season is revving up nicely. We have just had the traditional Moson event and the Kit Show takes place in Kopřivnice on Saturday, so it´s a good time to talk about this year´s E-day. E-day 2023 takes place on Saturday, September 23 at the Tankodrom in Milovice and we will be following the same scheme as last year, meaning that exhibiting modelers begin on Friday afternoon and will include the early evening program.

Dobrý večer, vážení přátelé! Máme přestěhované obchodní oddělení. K včerejšímu dni jsme tak definitivně ukončili naši činnost v areálu Rico, kde obchodní oddělení a také oddělení kompletace stavebnic sídlilo od června roku 2019. A kde také v prosinci 2020 vyhořel sklad výlisků pro stavebnice. Přiznám se, že jsem po požáru doufal v rychlejší přestěhování do nějakých nových prostor. Hned na jaře a v létě 2020 jsme začali připravovat stavbu nové haly, ale turbulentní situace na stavebním trhu v roce 2021 nám tento záměr zhatila. Na podzim 2021 jsme začali jednat o koupi staršího areálu v Sedleci, sousední vesnici vzdálené asi pět kilometrů od Obrnic.

Good evening, Dear Friends We have completed our retail department move. As of yesterday, we have vacated the facility in Most that since June, 2019, has served as our main retail headquarters as well as the facility that served as final kit packaging. It’s also the facility in which we lost a lot of the plastic for our kits when a fire broke out in December 2020. I admit to having hoped for an earlier move to a new facility after that fire. Immediately in the spring and summer of 2020, we prepared for a new-build facility, but that was ultimately quelled by the turbulent supply issues in the construction industry.

Dobrý den, dámy a pánové! Máme zavřeno. Dnes představované březnové novinky si sice můžete prohlédnout a prostudovat jak na následujících stránkách, tak na našem e-shopu, ale nekoupíte je tam. Chápu, zní to šíleně. Nejde ale o žádný rafinovaný marketingový tah, prostě se stěhujeme. Přesně řečeno, stěhujeme obchodní oddělení. To je také důvod, proč v následujících sedmi dnech nebude možné objednávat na e-shopu. Jak jste ale jistě zaznamenali, bylo na druhou stranu možné tyto novinky nakoupit již od minulého pátku, rovněž tak jsou již k dispozici u našich obchodních partnerů.

I understand that this sounds a little nuts, but it is not the result of some underhanded marketing ploy. It is a function of the fact that we are moving our entire retail department. It is also the reason why no sales will be going through our e-shop for the next seven days. As you will have probably already noted, the new items were available for early purchase from last Friday, and they will be available from our retail partners as well.
