P-51D MUSTANG

Behind this Three colour nose Mustangs project
is very inspiring story. A friend of mine send me
one of the .50cal shells from P-51D found in the
area where Lt .James L. Brooks lead formation
of the Mustangs from 307th FS to fight with
36-40 Ju-87 Stuka Dive Bombers, where
squadron achieved a great victory shooting
down 21:0 Luftwaffe planes, and Brooks shot
down 2xJu 87. It happened during operation
"Frantic III, when 307th squadron operated from
airfields in Ukraine over Poland (attacking
airfield in Mielec). Choosing Brooks plane for
the build I thought that it would be a great
opportunity to improve painting skills with
regard to Bare Metal Finished Mustangs making
more planes. It brings me to idea that adding
other two Aces planes (blue nose P-51 piloted
by Preddys - the best ace flying on P-51 and
yellow nose P-51 Drew's - famous of shooting
down 2 Me-262 jet fighters).
