from 15th USAAF defensive gunners, crashed in his Me 410 into a
B-24 belonging to the 376th BG piloted by Lieutenant Marcus. It all
happened over southern Slovakia.)
The next day brought a higher level of air activity, and
consequently, more losses and accidents. Panzerjägerstaffel ZG
1 recorded the loss of one and the damage of two aircraft. Uffz.
Herbert Stengel was wounded, while Uffz. Adolf Heusinger died
in the cockpit of a Bf 110F-2 after an attack by enemy ghters
West of Kosjukina. In this case, it is not clear whether or not the Bf
110 was modied to the R1 standard. It would be the only known
example of a Bf 110F equipped with this type of gun. Another two
machines belonging to Panzerjägerstaffel were conrmed as being
R1 modied. Messerschmitt Bf 110G-2 W.Nr. 6289 suffered an
emergency belly landing west of Kosjukin after taking AAA hits.
