This equipment is used to launch thirty-
two S-5M and S-5K type rocket projectiles.
In essence, it is an enlarged UB-16-57UMP
rocket pod, and differs in the number of
rounds carried. There are five rounds carried
on the inside cluster, eleven in the middle
row, and sixteen carried around the outside.
The removable parts and the electrical system
are accordingly modified.

TECHNICS / EQUIPMENT
S-5M Unguided Air Launched Rocket
This is a rocket with an explosive warhead,
with a mechanical V-5M1 impact fuse. It is
equipped with a self-destruct mechanism
after 10-15 seconds after firing. The rocket
is stabilized in flight by a rotation of 1500
rpm. It is intended for the destruction of
ground targets (aircraft and vehicle equip-
ment, structures, etc.) or theoretically also
air targets (large bombers) at altitudes up to
30,000m.
Main Components:
Warhead (1) destroys the target through its
pressure and (partially) fragmentation effect.
The warhead is filled with a phlegmatized
form of the explosive hexogen, Coupling (2)
connects the warhead to the rocket motor se-
ction into one compartment. Solid Rocket Mo-
tor (3) provides the weapon with the necessary
energy to delivery it on target and is compos-
ed of the combustion chamber, exhaust, eight
stabilizer fins and fuel (nitroglycerin powder).
Fin Casing (4) holds the stabilizing fins in
a retracted position and protects the bottom of
the rocket from mechanical damage and at the
same time facilitates loading the rocket into
the pod. V-5M1 Head Fuse (5) is a mechanical
impact type item with immediate effect and
detonation. It provides initiation of explosives
in the warhead of the rocket.
