Strana 20
This is a high-explosive air launched unguided
rocket with a mechanical V-24A impact fuse.
It is intended for the destruction of ground
infantry and various ground targets such as
railways, missile launchers and other combat
equipment, hidden in field shelters, or even in
armored covers of up to 25 mm thick.
Main Components
Warhead made of thick-walled steel, and the
front of it features a fuse adjustment well.
The transfer charge from the fuse to the
explosive itself is made of tritol (or amatol).
Its effect on the target is combined, explosive
(shock, pressure wave) and fragmentation
(fragments numbering up to 4000 pieces).
Solid Rocket Motor serves to propel the
rocket and gives it initial speed as the powder
charge burns. The engine's propellant charge
consists of 7 tubes of solid propellant of
the BN
-
K type. There are six nozzles in the
nozzle bottom of the rocket engine, which are
tangentially deflected by 1°30'. This helps to
give the rocket an additional rotation of 450
revolutions/minute and thus stabilize its flight
to the target. Four stabilizing fins at the end
of the rocket serve to stabilize the flight to
the target. They are welded to the cylindrical
sleeve and are pressed through to increase
rigidity. The V-24A fuse is a head-mounted,
mechanical impact fuse with remote release
and immediate or delayed action after impact
with the target. It ensures the initiation of the
explosive charge in the warhead of the rocket.
It is equipped with a so-called mask safety
mechanism, meaning complete release occurs
only when the rocket is launched. Depending
on the nature of the intended target, the fuse
can be set to immediate action on impact (‘O’),
or to a short-term delay (‘Z’) in the range of
0.005 to 0.015 seconds. The original version
of the fuse allowed setting one of three
detonation variations: ‘0’ immediate, ‘M’ with
a 0.007 second delay or ‘B’ with a delay doubled
to .014 seconds.
