KANADSKÉ MUZEUM LETECTVÍ A KOSMONAUTIKY
The Me 163 Komet is one of the captured German items in the museum‘s collections. It was captured by the British, handed over to the Canadians in 1946,
has been on display at the Canadian War Museum since 1964, and has been exhibited by the National Air Museum since 1984.
This Lysander Mk.III was
reconstructed in 1963 using parts
from three unidentified Lysanders.
The wings are known to be from
a Canadian-made machine, while
the fuselage is British. It was
donated to the museum in 1968.
The history of this Swordfish Mk.II
is a mystery. The Canadian War
Museum purchased it in 1965 from
Ontario farmer Ernest Simmons,
who had the machine stored in
an open area, and due to the
weather, all identification plates
and, of course, marking elements,
including the serial number, were
completely destroyed.
