The headrest serves to support the pilot’s head during ejection and contains the Type II Stabilizing parachute.
This system is made up of three parachutes with a tether system and an NAZ-7 emergency supply pack.
It ensures the stabilization and braking of the seat after its separation from the aircraft, stabilized decent from altitude, and provides provisions
in the NAZ-7 pack.
It is composed of the first stabilizing parachute with an area of 0.1 m², designed to rotate the seat into the air flow after ejection and to reduce
the descent speed to a level suitable for the release of the second stabilizing parachute. The first stabilizing parachute is stored in a canvas case
above the seat.
The second stabilizing parachute, with an area of 2m², is designed to stabilize the seat with the pilot when descending from high altitudes, to
reduce the rate of descent of the seat to a speed suitable for the release of the rescue parachute. The case with the second stabilizing parachute
is stored in the hollow headrest.
The main parachute has an area of 54m² and is designed for the safe descent of the pilot with an emergency NAZ-7 provisions pack to the ground.
The descent speed of the parachute with the pilot is 6m/s. The parachute is stored in a metal container behind the pilot's back.
